Agent Hospital 1 Public Beta Officially Launched
In April 2025, Tsinghua University announced the establishment of the Tsinghua AI Agent Hospital. In its initial phase, the AI hospital system will be built upon the university’s comprehensive AI deployment and multidisciplinary integration of medicine and engineering. In the future, it will form a closed-loop ecosystem of “AI + healthcare + education + scientific research.” In August 2025, the AI hospital system “Agent Hospital” (Chinese name: 紫荆AI医院) launched internal testing at Tsinghua University Hospital. The Agent Hospital system is based on the evolvable agent technology driven by large models proposed by the Institute for AI Industry Research (AIR), Tsinghua University, and is developed, operated, and maintained by Tairex, an enterprise incubated by AIR. The system will serve as core infrastructure to integrate multidisciplinary medical-engineering innovation achievements from relevant departments and hospitals within Tsinghua University. The internal testing primarily targeted patients visiting the Specialist Clinic of Pulmonology and the General Practice at Tsinghua University Hospital. Test results showed that the system achieved deep integration of agent technology with medical workflows, providing basic functions for full-cycle, closed-loop health management for patients, and significantly improving physicians’ work efficiency through agent-assisted operations and decision-making.
To further test and refine the system functions, Agent Hospital system initiated public beta at the end of November 2025. Eight hospitals from Beijing and Guangxi will participate in the first batch of public beta:

- Chuiyangliu Hospital affiliated with Tsinghua University
- Tiantongyuan North Community Health Service Center

The Agent Hospital provides three portals for patients, doctors, and hospitals.
Patient App primarily offers functions including General Practice AI doctor health Q&A, online consultation and follow-up appointment registration, online text-based communication, online audio and video communication, AI nurse triage, AI doctor pre-consultation, paper-based health record upload and automated interpretation, health record management based on multi-source continuous data streams, and health status analysis and warning.
Doctor Platform primarily provides customized autonomous scheduling, evolvable personalized agent avatars for physicians, skill-level evaluation of agent avatars, real-time guideline retrieval and decision suggestion generation, automated medical record writing, online text-based communication, online audio and video communication, and automated post-consultation follow-up.
Hospital Platform primarily offers hospital information management, unified department scheduling, hierarchical permission management, data alignment and aggregation, and statistical data dashboards. Additional new features will be released for testing during the public beta period.
The online–offline integrated diagnosis and treatment functions will be primarily tested at Tsinghua University Hospital, while other hospitals will mainly test offline outpatient functionalities. Patients interested in participating in the system testing may select the AI-assisted outpatient service through the participating hospitals’ systems for appointment registration. After a successful appointment, patients may download the Patient App. Before participating, patients must sign informed consent forms, user agreements, and other documents. During testing, patients are required to pay the standard medical fees and will need to provide feedback and suggestions afterward. The public beta will strictly follow relevant national regulations to protect patient data privacy. It is important to note that, according to relevant national regulations, within the Agent Hospital system, AI is primarily responsible for collecting information, analyzing information, and providing decision suggestions; all medical decisions must still be made by human doctors.
In the initial phase of the public beta, the Agent Hospital system will open General Practice and Pulmonology Specialist Clinics at the cooperating hospitals. The cooperating hospital network will gradually expand, and new departments will be added based on each hospital’s strengths. Multiple hospitals, including Wuxi Ninth People’s Hospital, are preparing to join the testing. The public beta is expected to last approximately three months. Subsequent system pilot operations will be further carried out based on the testing results and the approval status from relevant national authorities.
